  9.  AB    We report a 35-year-old HIV-1-positive man who presented with severe
  10.        dyspnea and a nonproductive cough. Three fiberoptic bronchoscopic
  11.        examination revealed an infiltrating and vegetating tracheal mass that
  12.        was diagnosed as necrotizing candidiasis of the trachea. The lesion
  13.        resulted in the formation of a tracheoesophageal fistula that eventually
  14.        led to the death of the patient. Postmortem examination showed
  15.        cytomegalovirus vasculitis in the esophageal wall.
